The Clark Mansion Fire

In the winter of 1976, a bolt of lightning during a violent thunderstorm set the North Ward Center's roof on fire. The fire ravaged the 3rd floor and caused extensive damage to the second floor and the main staircase.

For most places, the fire would have triggered the end of a promising, young institution. From the ashes, we rebuilt the North Ward Center and found our strength on that thundering night.

People are the true strength of the center.
